Pluta Brothers Design, incorporated in 1998, is a research and implementation
company dedicated to the concept of taking today's AS/400 legacy systems and
adapting them to work with tomorrow's technologies. We have designed packages
that will allow you to add graphical interfaces to existing programs, design new
client/server interfaces to your existing database, and merge the two
technologies to create powerful, robust network-based applications, on
intranets, extranets or the Internet.
Pluta Brothers Design is built on a base of knowledge that spans decades, but
has been focused specifically on the issues surrounding the development and
deployment of distributed applications for the IBM midrange. The World Wide Web burst
upon the public consciousness in the late 1990's, and along with the dot.com
boom came a wave of self-proclaimed experts in web application design. But
as the succeeding years have made painfully clear, few companies have any real background in distributed business application development and
fewer still have knowledge of OS/400 and how to design to its strengths.
We've seen attempts to apply web
technologies to legacy iSeries systems. Most fail because very few companies
have the breadth and depth of knowledge required to
understand the needs of today's iSeries applications. Rather
than learn the unique capabilities of the platform, they often attempt to
port code that has worked for simple storefront programs with a dozen panels and databases with a few thousand records, and apply that code to applications accessing
literally millions of records, using hundreds of
sophisticated 5250 screens. It's no surprise that these projects fail. Pluta Brothers Design was established to
develop revolutionary new techniques that will merge the strengths
of existing legacy systems with the new capabilities of
Java and WebSphere on the iSeries, allowing existing
applications to gain the power of web access while retaining all their intrinsic value. |
