PSC/400 Features
PSC/400 consists of several editions, but those editions share many common features. There are basically two different conversion strategies: standard and advanced.
The standard strategy is used in both the Entry and Standard Editions of the product. With this strategy, the product converts your screens into two standard UI types: green screen and gray screen. The green screen acts as a replacement for the standard 5250 display, and requires no HTML skills on your part and no retraining for your programmers or your end users. A simple conversion and you're on the web and running in batch (thus using no interactive CPU). If you then choose to deploy a more "web-like" appearance, your HTML developers can customize the generated gray screen in whatever way they see fit. This procedure can be done using any standard HTML development tools.
With the advanced strategy, PSC/400 performs sophisticated analysis of your DDS and makes a best guess at the appropriate grouping and formatting of the fields in your display. While this first guess is usually quite accurate for most screens, you also have the ability to override every decision the tool makes, at varying levels all the way down to the individual field. These overrides are persistent and applied each time you convert the program. And you can have multiple sets of customizations, allowing you to generate as many different styles as you need.
